This project is to document our complete research on Wau Kites, one of dying arts in Malaysia. Preserving the facts that need to be documented is main objective of this documentary.

OBJECTIVE

The narration revolves around a professional Wau maker (Mie Sering Gmiey) attempt to set Malaysian Book Of Record, by making 43feet biggest Wau Bulan, as in folk story, such kites been made centuries ago to bring parcels across Thailand and Kelantan border. Along making the record, we explore the historical background of Wau kites, and the factual study on how it become Malaysian one of National Proudest Identity.

The Documentary also will highlight the Uniqueness of ‘Wau Kites’ compared to other kites in the world. Hence, entirely, it will be a showcase to bring Malaysian Identity to international, as well to promote Malaysian Culture to the world

SYNOPSIS

Now, Malaysian National Film Development Corporation (FINAS) officially support this project, by partially funding it. However, the success of the documentary and record breaking, is largely dependent upon the financial support from other platforms.

FACTS

 Keshvan is a Malaysian filmmaker with more than 10 years of experience in creative industry. he graduated with a degree in Cinematography from University Malaysia Sarawak, In 2008. After spent years worked in broadcast stations, he further his exploration in film arts, by undertaking specified programs, such as Professional Screenplay Writing in MindScreen Film Institute in India, and Acting & Voice Modulation in Theater Y, India. He then worked as editor and cameraman for various television programs, documentaries, corporate videos, music videos, stop-motion animation for years. His fourth short-film, The Return (2015) gives him high recognition as he won Grand Prize at Sundance Channel Short Film Competition. ​Currently, he is more concentrate on Documentary subjects with his teammates, stressing on documentation of important values of society.

   Khor Kheng Kia is Assistant Professor cum Deputy Dean (Academic Development & Undergraduate Programme) of Faculty of Arts and Social Science, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia. As a panel assessor of Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), he has more than a decade of academic experience in teaching as well as developing higher educational programme and training materials related to design, multimedia and animation. Dr. Khor holds a doctorate in visual arts from the University of Malaya, a master’s degree in creative multimedia and a bachelor’s degree (with honour) in visual communication from Birmingham City University (previously known as University of Central England). Apart from books and book chapters, Dr, Khor has presented and published more than half a dozen research papers at various international conferences. In addition to his involvement in the production of numerous TV, Dr. Khor’s animation was nominated for Best Animation (student category) in Royal Television Awards and Best Film in the 17th Birmingham Film & TV Festival in United Kingdom. His areas of expertise include computer graphics, digital puppetry, multimedia and immersive technology.
